Barbara Helen Touard Mills was born on July 26, 1932 in Atlanta, GA. She moved on to heaven on July 8, 2014 surrounded by her husband, her children and her brother. She was raised in Atlanta, GA by Helen Touard and H. Clyde Touard. She attended both Girl's High and William A. Bass High. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Mercer University where she met her husband of sixty one years, Harvey Joe Mills. Barbara left a tremendous legacy of service to God and others. She volunteered countless hours with the Red Cross where she raised money, chaperoned patients and advocated for patient needs. She taught countless bible studies and Sunday school classes and sang in the choir throughout her life. As an Army chaplain's wife, she traveled the country and world with her husband and family. She and her husband retired from the military to Tallahassee, FL where she earned a Master's of Social Work from Florida State University and worked at the Baptist Campus Ministry and as an Adjunct Professor. She served as a counselor, confidant, friend, teacher and surrogate mother to hundreds of college students at a key formative time in their lives. In Tallahassee she attended Fellowship Baptist Church. They moved to Valley, Alabama where she volunteered with Hospice, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and Morningstar Children and Family Services. While there they attended First Baptist Church of West Point, GA. She continued her work with Morningstar after moving to Waleska, GA and became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children (CASA). They attended First Baptist Church of Jasper. Throughout her life Barbara touched many lives by sharing her love of Christ with others unconditionally. She leaves a legacy of hundreds of lives touched by her life and example. Barbara is survived by her four children Jenni (and Tony) Adams, Carole Nolan, Beth (and Don) Leonard and Tom (and Julie) Mills, eight grandchildren Jeremy (and Brittni) Adams, Chris Adams, Amanda (and Jaciel) Nolan Castro, Damon Nolan, Hannah Leonard, Kiki (and Blake) Leonard Alliston, her brother Buddy (and Brenda) Touard and hundreds of "adopted" children. Visitation will be held at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell, GA from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Thursday, July 10 followed by a memorial service at 6:00 pm. Interment will be held at 10:00 am Friday July 11 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
