Shirley Hickey Foster Strum, age 76 of Roswell, GA passed away December 7, 2014. Shirley was born to the late Henderson Hickey and Mary Hickey Nydegger on October 14, 1938 in Tampa where she remained for the majority of her life. Shirley attended H. B. Plant High School and the University of Tampa, where she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education. Fulfilling a lifelong love of teaching children, she taught in the Hillsborough County Public School System for almost thirty years. Shirley was a kind, generous woman known for her strong, unwavering love and commitment to family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, hosting large parties, and spending time with loved ones.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Rich) Beverly, Andrea (Paul) Jones; three grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, and Allison Jones; sister, Joan (Ken) Weaver; uncle John (Agnes) Sultenfuss; numerous cousins nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at the Catholic Church of St. Ann, 4905 Roswell Road, Marietta on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00pm. A burial service will immediately follow at Milton Fields, 1150 Birmingham Rd., Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Cancer Society ( www.cancer.org ).
