Obituary:
BROWN – Ms. Louise Pruett Rudasill Brown, 93, of Canton Georgia went home to be with her Lord on July 31, 2009 following a brief illness. Ms. Louise was born in Cherokee County, Georgia in 1916. She attended primary school at historic Birmingham School in North Fulton County. She moved to Atlanta as a child, attending school there briefly, before returning to the Birmingham community. She wed G.V. Rudasill also of Cherokee County in 1937, a union which lasted thirteen years. In 1943, she again moved to Atlanta and began employment with Georgia Power working in the street car division, where she drove a street car on Peachtree Street early in her career. This division later became Atlanta Transit, and ultimately MARTA. She retired from MARTA in 1979 after a 36 year career with the MARTA Credit Union. She attended Aldersgate United Methodist Church in East Atlanta during her years in Atlanta and remained in close contact with that congregation even after moving away. In 1990, she married her long-time companion, Emmett J. Brown of Atlanta. They made their home in the Birmingham Community in North Fulton County, Georgia. He preceded her in death by 11 years. Ms. Louise was a faithful and beloved, lifelong member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, and was actively involved in the life of the church until her death. Ms. Louise taught Sunday School for over 55 years, encouraging many in their faith and was still teaching Sunday School at the time of her death. She mentored others by her teaching and by leading a life after the example of Christ. She was especially adored by the children of the church. She leaves behind her step-daughter Carol Brown Thornburg, son-in-law John Thornburg, eight step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Friends and family will receive visitors on Friday, August 7, between 5:00 and 8:00 PM at Northside Chapel in Crabapple, GA (Roswell). A service celebrating her life and home going will be held at Birmingham United Methodist Church, Alpharetta, GA on August 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Liberty Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. A reception is planned following the graveside service at Birmingham United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. Those who desire to pay tribute to Ms. Louise may do so by wearing something pink to the service (her favorite color).
