DEVORE – James J. DeVore, age 81 of Atlanta, died September 28, 2009. Born in Hall County, Mr. DeVore was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, was retired from Lockheed and a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Dawsonville. He and his wife Janie were members of the DeFore Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Daisy Griffin DeVore, brothers, Griffin and Larry DeVore and grandson Justin DeVore. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janie DeVore of Atlanta; daughters, Debbie and Charles Blackstock of Dawsonville, and Tammy and Robert Westbrook of Douglasville; sons, Dennis and Kathy DeVore of Atlanta and Tim and Crystal DeVore of Loganville; sister, Janie Knight, brothers, Roy DeVore, Jr., Jerry DeVore, Byron DeVore and Winston DeVore; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Charles Blackstock and Rev. Frank Whitmire officiating. Interment, Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
