BURGESS – Mr. Robert T. (Bob) Burgess, Sr., age 81 of Alpharetta, died January 30, 2010. A native of Forsyth County (Brandywine Community) and a long time resident of Alpharetta, Mr. Burgess was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of the Alpharetta Post 201 – American Legion. He owned and operated Burgess Electric Company for 40 years and for many years gave of his time as a volunteer fireman for the City of Alpharetta. Bob and his wife Virginia were members of the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta. Preceded in death by his parents, Elsy L. and Grace Bagwell Burgess, he is survived by his wife of 60 ½ years, Virginia K. Burgess of Alpharetta; daughters, Debbie Royston of Gainesville and Rita and Mike David of Alpharetta; son, Bobby and Dara Burgess of Douglas, GA; brother, Ed and Betty Burgess of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Michaela and Greg Wilkes, Russell and Nicole David, Kelley Bennett, Kim Bennett, Josh Bennett, Trent and Brandi Burgess, Sami Chriqui and Jordan Chriqui; great grandchildren, Ashley David, Cole Wilkes, Ben David, Madeline Wilkes, Brenna Wilkes, Arrie Wilkes, Paul Wilkes and Payton Burgess; nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. A. B. Hatfield officiating, Interment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery. The family requests that donations in memory of Mr. Burgess be made to Vistas Hospice, c/o North Fulton Regional Hospital, 2500 Hospital Blvd., Roswell, GA 30076 or to the First Baptist Church of Alpharetta, 44 Academy Street, Alpharetta, GA 30009.
