Obituary:
Emily Anne Burgess, 65,of Alpharetta, died on Feb. 10, 2010. Born on March 25, 1944 to the late Naomi Smith Burgess and Reuel Burgess, she was a lifelong resident of Alpharetta, Georgia and a faithful member of the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. She was an active member of "In His Steps" Sunday School Class, The Blanket Ministry, a charter member of the Agape Group of United Methodist Women, and she participated in many Disciple Bible studies. She taught English as a Second Language at the church. She retired after 30 years of teaching public high school math, more recently at Roswell High School. She loved children and was especially fond of the Methodist Children's Home. Anne was survived by a host of cousins from the Burgess and Smith families of Alpharetta and was thought of as a family member by countless friends. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 13 from 4 pm until 7 pm. at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell. Funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2:00 pm at the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Rev. Brent White, Rev. A. B. Hatfield, and Dr. Joe Bowen officiating. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the United Methodist Children's Home, 500 Columbia Dr., Decatur, GA 30030
