Mrs. Joyce Fierstos Berea, age 78, of Roswell, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Raised in Canton, Ohio, daughter of the late Joseph M. and Florence Harper Fierstos, she was a graduate of Kent State University. She was a talented teacher of communications for deaf children. As a devoted wife and mother she was always active in the community, enjoyed artistic endeavors and, most of all, treasured her time with family and friends. She is survived by John Berea, her loving husband of 56 years. Survivors also include four children: Jill Katz (Mike) of Alpharetta, Jay Berea (Jan) of New Jersey, Joyce “Nan” Bodeep (Tom) of Alpharetta, Janna Smith (Glen) of Canton, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Sam Katz, Becca Katz, Sara Beth Bodeep, Joey Bodeep, Ruthie Bodeep, Kasey Marie Smith, Zeke Smith; brother: Robert Fierstos of Lexington Kentucky; sister: Joanne Ebie of Canton, Ohio; brother-in-law: Frank Lauterbur, Sr., of Toledo, Ohio. Following inurnment, the family will receive guests at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, 12050 Crabapple Rd., Roswell, GA 30075, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 11:30 AM, Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 PM. The family extends gratitude to Embracing Hospice for their special care and support.
