Bobby was born April 9, 1941 and passed away peacefully on February 12, 2021 at his home in Roswell, GA. He was born in Dozier, Al and grew up in Andalusia, AL. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, James Otis and Myrtle Lewis (Atkins) Grimes. He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Roberta Carrie (Martin) Grimes; son, Gregory Brooke Grimes; daughter-in-law, Rachel Katherine (Williams) Grimes; their children, April Marie Haley Grimes and Betty Abigail Grimes; daughter, Marla Marie Grimes; daughter, Heather Elise (Grimes) Forrester; son-in-law, Jonathan Forrester; their children, Natalie Elise Forrester and Nicholas “Nick” Brice Forrester; son, Jesse Martin Brown; daughter-in-law, Shannon (Broadhead) Brown; their children, Blake Martin Brown and Jerry Ethan Brown; step-daughter, Lori (Hulsey) Black; step-son-in-law, Tim Black; their daughter, Carson Hulsey; brother, Jim Grimes of Andalusia, AL; sister, Gayle (Grimes) Rawls; aunt, Elizabeth (Grimes) Wise of Andalusia, AL; 3 nieces and 2 nephews. We also don’t want to forget our faithful friend and helper of over 15 years, Pastor. Bobby graduated Auburn University in 1964 with a BA in Business Administration. He is best known for his work in commercial and industrial construction over a span of 50 years. In 1977, he started his own company, Atlanta Building Contractors, Inc. While he built all over the Southeast, he primarily worked in Metro Atlanta, building over 150 buildings for one particular company. He will be tenderly remembered not only as a hard worker, but also as a man who loved his family and loved to have fun, especially with his boats. The family will be holding a time of remembrance at Open Door Community Church (PCA) in Alpharetta, GA on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:00pm. The family will receive friends for one hour prior. We warmly welcome all who are able to come and join us in person. However, please note that in accordance with state and CDC guidelines, we need to limit building occupancy to 50 people. Masks and 6-feet distancing will be required. There will be an opportunity after the service to enter the building and offer condolences to the family.
