Mr. Douglas Wilson
January 23, 1940 - January 11, 2022
Ronald Douglas (Doug) Wilson, passed away quietly on Tuesday, January 11th at the age of 81, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Quiet would not be a way to describe Doug by anyone who knew him…be it a stranger or lifelong friend. His enduring personality filled whatever room he entered in business and in life and will forever be in our hearts. Doug’s life is remembered for his passion for being the best at whatever he set out to do…from earning ranks of Valedictorian in High School and College, American Legion baseball player, Captain in the Army, Sr. Executive at DuPont, Monsanto, Levi Strauss and Glen Raven Mills. This passion for excellence carried into his personal life; a husband of 62 years, a self-taught, single digit handicap golfer, and awesome Dad to three kids and “Pop” to seven grandkids. No matter what task he undertook he excelled…we had the most organized garage, and the cleanest kitchen floor known to man. His love for golf, fishing and music were highlighted by numerous and memorable tournaments, and guy trips, that were filled with Willie Nelson, Neil Diamond, and the Eagles…all enjoyed loudly and with a few Scotches in hand. Doug met the love of his life, Julia, in Gainesville, Georgia, and began what became a life journey from coast to coast in the many homes and cities they shared with family and friends. Whether you were a new neighbor or dear friend, you always had a place to stay and a seat at Julia’s dinner table. Doug is preceded in death by his mother and father, Jack and Kathleen Wilson, and his two brothers, Randall and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife Julia, three children and their spouses, Jeff and Donna Wilson, Alana and Ken Juneau, and Shannon and Jeff Fritschi. He was also blessed as a grandad to seven grandchildren, Savannah, Kyle and Cydney Wilson, Tony and Carol Juneau and Clayton and Tanner Fritschi. We will always remember Doug as a fiercely resilient man and we take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace. Doug will be remembered on Friday January 14th, with a visitation at 10am and Memorial Service at 11am at Northside Chapel in Roswell, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), in honor of his courageous fight these past few years.
