Mr. Mark Edward Wegener

October 3, 1960 - February 18, 2022

Mark Edward Wegener, 61, of Alpharetta, passed away peacefully at his home on February 18, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. Mark was born on October 3, 1960, in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward Joseph and Julie Ann Wegener. He was a one-of a kind, accomplished, and skilled entrepreneur and a co-founder of Paper Affair in 1984- an Atlanta tradition of stationery stores for 30+ years. He was also a realtor with Keller Williams. Mark was a pillar in the BMX (Bicycle Motorcross) community. He raced BMX professionally and was the best of the best in this old-school sport. As the first inductee to the Georgia BMX Hall of Fame he was referred to as “a pioneer” of the sport in Georgia. Mark was an avid Tennis Player and enjoyed life with friends and family. His children, Caroline, Christopher, and Emory were the pride and joy of Mark’s life. The legacy of Mark Wegener’s kind spirt, passion for sports, and zest for life will live through them. Mark Wegener was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Ann Wegener. Survivors include beloved wife of 34 years, Carolyn “Carrie” Boggs Wegener; 3 children: Caroline Elizabeth Wegener, William Christopher Wegener, Emory Ann Wegener; Father: Edward Joseph Wegener; 5 Siblings: Paul Joseph Wegener and fiancée Susan Carlson, Diane Therese Wegener, Mary Beth Wegener, Scott Thomas Wegener and Dawn Slowikowski, and Christopher John Wegener and wife Lindsay; nieces and nephews: Ashley Dykes Griffin and husband Cory, John Paul Wegener, Lilly Kate Wegener, Jackson Christopher Wegener; great nephews, James Wesley Griffin and William Taylor Griffin; and his adored pack of Golden Retrievers. Visitation is Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6:00-8:00pm at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA. Funeral Mass is Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Johns Creek, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Purple Pansies, Help END Pancreatic Cancer” in memory of Mark Edward Wegener, http://purplepansies.org
