July 11, 1992 - November 3, 2021
Nicolette “Nikki” Julia Sylvest, age 29, of Roswell, GA passed away peacefully at her home early in the morning on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 after battling a rare form of cancer for over a year, surrounded by her family and husband, Dane, who faithfully cared for her. She was a strong, independent young woman and faced this battle with courage and strength as she did everything else in her life. Nikki grew up in Marietta, GA and graduated from Veritas High School in 2010, finishing high school in just three years. Nikki went on to attend college at Louisiana State University where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. She graduated from LSU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. After college, Nikki participated in Shotgun Sisters. Nikki was a member of North Point Community Church. Nikki loved all things LSU football, Geaux Tigers, and being with her close friends and family. Her favorite place to be was the beaches on the Gulf Coast. Nikki always had a very strong work ethic, working throughout high school, college, and then in her career as a Construction Project Manager with Moeller Purcell Construction. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and family, but also found strength in her alone times. Nikki had a quiet, confident inner strength and faith that carried her through life. She was as beautiful on the outside as she was in her soul and spirit. She touched the lives of all she met and will be deeply missed. Our hearts are broken at the loss of Nikki. We know she is with our Savior and we will live with the loving memory of her in our hearts until we see her again. Nikki is preceded in death by her grandfather, Arch McDonnell (March 2016) and is survived by her husband, Dane Sylvest; her father and mother, Dwayne and Julie Purcell; her older sister and brother-in-law, Whitney and Charles Shakar; her younger brother, Joshua Purcell; her nephews, Grant and Ford Shakar; and her little dog, Andi. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 10 a.m at North Point Community Church, 4350 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30022. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Nikki. We are also in the process of establishing a scholarship fund in Nikki’s memory for women pursuing a degree in Construction Management at LSU. Her family will share that information as it becomes available.
