Stewart “Mac” McElroy October 27, 1932- February 22, 2021 Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can. -John Wesley Mr. Stewart “Mac” McElroy, 88, of Roswell, passed away on February 22, 2021. He was born in Sciotoville, OH, and grew up in Manchester. He graduated from Hebron High School in Buckeye Lake, OH. He then joined the Air Force in 1952 and served for 22 years until his retirement. After he left the military, he went on to work for Norfolk Southern for the next 17 years. After he retired from the railroad, he and his wife Judy spent their time traveling and enjoying life. There were many trips to the beach, mountains and an amazing trip to China. Soon they became grandparents to 4 grandchildren who became the highlight of his life. He was most often found at one of their performances or in the bleachers of one of their games. He was always their biggest fan and so proud of all of their accomplishments. Mac’s family meant everything to him. He called us “his ten” although it should have been 13 when you counted the granddogs. He loved nothing better than being surrounded by all his family with good food. He was a member of Alpharetta First United Methodist Church and enjoyed his many church activities. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judith Baker McElroy; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Howard Robertson of Roswell, GA and Kerry and Thomas Downs of Alpharetta, GA; grandchildren, Madeleine and Matthew Robertson and Emily and Katherine Downs; granddogs, Cooper, Gus and Tate. A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 9. Interment will be in the National Military Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers please make donations in his memory to the Alpharetta First United Methodist Church, 69 N. Main St., Alpharetta, GA 30004. We wish we could have all of you attend but due to COVID restrictions, it is limited to immediate family. Our hope is to have a Celebration of Life in the spring if restrictions lift and we feel it is safe. Dad, we hope you are sitting back and enjoying a good cup of coffee (with 2 Sweet-N-Lows) and a handful of Meyer lemon cookies!
