Obituary

Alan Charles Hanson of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on November 4, 2023, at the age of 79. He was born in Mineola, New York on February 20, 1944. His death is preceded by his parents, Charles and Mildred Hanson; his sister, Ellie Danard; and his daughter, Sandy Dale Hanson.
Alan is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Carol Hanson; his children, Erika (Jim) Gray, Boyd (Michelle) Hanson, and Luke Hanson; his grandchildren, Colton Gray, Ava Gray, Lily Bella Gray, Ella Hanson, Nicole Busby and Alania Mulkey. He is also survived by several step-great grandchildren; his sister, Evie Stewart; his brother, Robert Hanson; their spouses and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alan graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1966 with a Business Degree. He then served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army/Armor Division. Alan was employed by Green Giant, Inc. followed by Cold Cube Ice, Inc.. In 1971, Carol Hanson established Young Life Academy, a childcare/education facility in Roswell, Georgia. Alan left the corporate world and joined the operation in 1975. Alan and Carol's hard work and dedication has allowed the school to flourish in the Roswell community for the past 52 years and continues to play a major role in childcare/education services. The school's success is contributed to the loyal employees and supportive families who attend, both past and present. His children, Erika, Boyd, and Luke will continue to carry on his legacy.
Alan was an avid antique, train, `and classic car collector. He loved attending local antique/classic car shows, boating, and traveling with family and friends. He has inspired many with his love of others and his passion for life. We will miss his kind spirit and great sense of humor.
The family will receive friends at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors (12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Georgia 30075) on Friday, November 17th from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM - 8:00PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 18th at Mount Zion Baptist Church (4096 East Cherokee Drive, Canton, Georgia 30115) at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the Shriner's Children Hospital.
