Obituary

Albert Edwin "Eddie" Cunningham, III of Roswell, passed away on September 13, 2023.
Eddie was born at Saint Joseph's Hospital on Ivy Street in Atlanta, GA. Yes, he was an Atlanta native! He was baptized at Audubon Forest United Methodist Church in southwest Atlanta. His parents, Sara and Ed, who are buried where Eddie will be buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Roswell, raised him in southwest Atlanta where Eddie attended City of Atlanta public schools graduating from D.M. Therrell High School in 1973. Later he graduated college from Kennesaw State University. Eddie's brother, Dave, and sister-in-law, Katie, live in Roswell, GA. In addition, Eddie had three nephews, 3 great nephews and one great niece.

Eddie moved in 1975 to Alpharetta, GA, before Alpharetta became cool! He joined Alpharetta First United Methodist Church. Eddie worked many years in the retail industry and later found his calling as a courtesy clerk at The Kroger Company grocery stores. During his nearly 20 year tenure at Kroger he made many friends, particularly Kroger customers. He had a passion for treating "his" customers as if they were Kroger's only customers! He always asked and remembered his customer's names and sometimes birth dates! Sometimes their children's names. He prided himself in striving to be the best courtesy clerk in The Kroger Company!

Eddie was an avid sports fan of all Atlanta teams, Braves, Hawks and Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs. Also, he had a passion for country music!

Eddie lived his life exemplifying the Bible verse "You shall love thy neighbor as yourself". Everyone he ever met came away feeling good about themselves! Eddie lived his life with unabashed, unconditional love for all despite his mental health and later physical challenges.

Eddie's family is most grateful to the "ministry", Just People, Roswell, founded by Becky Dowling and family. Just People was Eddie's home for close to 20 years. Eddie's extended family was "my friends" and the exceptional staff at Just People. Jesus shines His light in many ways but few exemplify the example of Jesus Christ to serve those in need like Eddie's most recent Just People case manager, Lisa Taljan. Who knows, Jesus, may return to our earth someday as a Just People "party animal"!

Most importantly, Eddie was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior! It was so exhibited by his daily walk as a Christian servant to all he encountered.
