Alexander (Alex) Joseph Finnell
Our gentle and kind Alexander (Alex) Joseph Finnell was born on September 25, 1999 and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the age of 23. Alex was a loving and loyal son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He loved his family and regularly kept them entertained with his quick wit and understated humor. Alex's beautiful smile was a gift to those blessed to know and love him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and girlfriend, Ryleigh, and especially loved listening to music, reading, playing video games, and watching anime and basketball with his brother and best friend, Gabe. Alex graduated from Cambridge High School (Milton, GA) in 2018 and attended Georgia State University.
Alex is survived by his mother, Mesalé Solomon-Mendes and bonus dad, Dwight Mendes; father, Ron Finnell; brothers, Gabe and Brian Finnell; bonus siblings, Brianna Mendes and Devron (Naj) Mendes; grandparents, Solomon and Meaza Habtemariam; aunt, Tsega Solomon, and uncles, Awot (Trish) Solomon and Tes Solomon, Bishop Charles M. Finnell (Vivian) and Mark Finnell; and a host of extended family and friends, all of whom loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Bessie Finnell, and his uncle, Joseph Finnell Jr.
Alex's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Green Lawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, 950 Mansell, Roswell, GA 30076.
