Obituary

It is with deep sadness the family of Annette (Anne) Marie Burton announce her peaceful passing on December 4, 2024 at the age of 85. She was a ray of sunshine for all who knew her.
She was born on January 20, 1939, in Greenfield, Massachusetts, to her loving parents, Antoinette and Joseph Rogalski. Anne, nicknamed "Toshie" by her Mom, was the youngest of five children, Joe, Eddie, Phyllis, and Elaine.

Anne grew up in Greenfield and attended Greenfield High School, graduating in 1956. She excelled in high school sports playing field hockey, cheerleading, and was a star basketball player. Anne started learning piano at the age of 12 years old. She had a deep passion for music and was an accomplished pianist, delighting family and friends with her talent and love of classical and popular compositions. Anne's appreciation for the arts extended into her everyday life, bringing beauty and harmony to all who knew her.

After high school, she went on to attend The Forsythe Hygiene School in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated with a degree in Dental Hygienistry in 1958.

In April 1959 at a friend's large wedding in Greenfield, Massachusetts, Anne met the love of her life, Clarence Nathaniel (Nat) Burton from Thomson Georgia. They married on July 23, 1960. Together, they built a beautiful life, eventually settling in Atlanta, Georgia where they raised two children, Brian and Lynne. Anne found great fulfillment as a dental hygienist working for Dr. Marvin Sugarman, a well-respected Atlanta periodontist, where she served her patients with care and devotion for over 30 years.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Anne found joy in life's simple pleasures. She also enjoyed painting, using her artistic talents to create beautiful works that reflected her love of nature and the world around her. She adored gardening, spending hours cultivating vibrant flowers and lush greenery. She loved the tranquility of the beach, where she often found solace and inspiration. She was an animal lover and her beloved dog, Daisy, was a constant companion and source of unconditional love. Anne also had a quest for spiritual knowledge all her life attending several lectures and reading many books to help better understand our world and provide the love and wisdom she gained to all she met.

Anne's greatest pride and joy, however, was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Nat Burton; her children, Lynne A. Burton, Brian N. Burton, Robin Burton - daughter in-law; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Gazlay, (M. Scott Gazlay), and Kristin Burton; and four precious great-grandchildren, Wells, Stella, Miller, and Reilly Gazlay. Anne's legacy of love, grace, and kindness will live on through them and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, at the Northside Chapel Funeral Home in Roswell, Georgia. Visitation at 2 PM. Service begins at 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Atlanta Humane Society, or the Children's Restoration Network, both causes close to Anne's heart.

Anne Marie Burton will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her loving spirit, musical talent, and the joy she brought to the lives of others.
