Anthony (AJ) Joseph Trapino 1981 - 2023 Alpharetta, GA
A warm and loving soul, a bit rough around the edges, unapologetically himself (and rightfully so), a despiser of phonies and know-it-alls, a lover of country music but most of all his family, AJ was someone we all wanted in our corner. He excelled at many things in life: construction site work, coaching his kids' sports, ridding the hunting property of pesky coyotes, and his unmatched rapid fire wit. But his greatest achievement by a longshot was loving his people well.
AJ was a solid dad. An avid hunter, he passed the same love and grit onto his daughter Taylor. The pair spent many hours in South Georgia not only hunting deer, boar, and coyote but forging a strong bond while darting around the grounds in his beloved Polaris. He could always be spotted at his kids' sporting events whether from the sidelines, the swim stands, or on the field as assistant coach for Peyton's baseball team. His new baby girl, Madison, could melt him. He showed up, always there to cheer on his kids and their passions.
AJ loved his parents and brothers deeply. They were not only family but the best of friends. Nancye and Bob's open door policy meant AJ stopped by almost daily to say hello, to hug his mom and eat her cooking, or to talk shop with his dad. AJ cherished construction talk with his dad, his mentor. He perfected his craft right alongside Bob throughout the years.
A longstanding member of the American Legion, AJ enjoyed swinging by for games of pool and shuffleboard plus conversations with other members and veterans. Volunteering his time and expertise when building improvements or enhancements were needed at the Legion was always an easy "yes" for AJ.
A valuable and talented superintendent, AJ excelled at getting construction jobs off the ground. He was a specialist in site work at Greystar and most recently Prestwick (now called Varium). His colleagues loved working with AJ.
AJ and his love of 14 years, Sally, created such a fun-loving, beautiful blended family. Sally provided the balance and AJ pushed the fun. Together they were the perfect pair tackling parenting, life, and love always as a team.
AJ would want us to celebrate his life in our own simple ways. Raise a glass filled with your favorite drink, say "yes" when someone needs a hand, or blast country music as if everyone around will love it just as much as he did. Throw a ball with your kid. Stop in on your parents. Don't be a stranger. Tell your love how much you adore them.
AJ is preceded in death by his grandmother Helen Trapino (2018), grandfathers Peter Trapino (2006) and Howard Egner (2008), uncles Mark Egner (2012) and Daniel Egner (2015), and cousin Amy Egner (2003).
AJ's legacy and heart will beat on through his parents, his best friends Nancye and Bob; his beautiful adult daughter, Taylor; his love and supportive partner for 14 years, Sally and their two incredible children, Peyton (7) and Madison (9 months); and his dear brothers Chris (Angie) and Brad (Mirelis) plus many well-loved nieces and nephews, grandmother Jeanette Egner, aunts and uncles, and dear friends.
A memorial of his life will be held at Stonecreek Church on August 12th, 1:00 pm. The address is 13540 GA-9, Alpharetta, GA 30004. All who know and love AJ are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in AJ's memory to the American Legion Post 201.
