Betty Sue Hensley Peyton, age 80 of Alpharetta, Ga. passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1943, to the parents of Sue and Arthur Hensley in Houston, TX.
Betty attended the University of Houston as an undergraduate and continued her education at Duke University, receiving a Master of Dietetics. In spite of her Master of Dietetics, she later ran a homemade candy store which everyone found ironic. Betty was also a critical contributor to the success of the Dogwood Institute, continuous education for physical & occupational therapy, and the Dogwood School of Fine Woodworking.
Betty had a love for animals. She would spend days working with the horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, and duck around her home. She treated her animals like family, with tender love and care. Betty was a generous giver of her time and continuously contributed to the PTA and Alpharetta Historical Society. She nurtured many friendships in both organizations. Everyone appreciated the effort and time Betty put into her volunteer work.
Betty is survived by her son Heath Peyton, daughter Heather Peyton Black, and adopted son Jesus Molina.
A church service to remember Betty will be held on Friday, January 19 @ 10AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 535 Rucker Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
