Obituary

Robert Ray Cox Sr, 85 passed away peacefully in the loving company of his wife and family on Sunday, March 5 2017 at his home in Alpharetta.

"Bobby" was born Aug 12, 1931 in the Brookhaven community of Atlanta to Jack and Odessa Cox as the third of five children. He attended Brookhaven Elementary and Junior High and after graduating from Chamblee High School earned his business degree from Greenleaf Business College. In 1952 he was drafted to the Army where he ultimately stationed in Southern France and played both baseball and football for the service corps. In 1953 he exited the military and returned to civilian life where he reacquainted with a childhood friend, Mary Ann Waters, fell in love and married. They maintained a devoted and adoring marriage for over 63 years, raising four children and ultimately becoming the nucleus of a large extended family. During his professional life, Bobby enjoyed success and accolades in insurance and financial planning which included positions at Westinghouse, Aetna and Pacific Mutual before forming Triad Financial Associates as a partner until retiring in 1998. He also officiated football and basketball and served as President of Morgan Falls Pop Warner Football league. Throughout his life, Bobby was committed to serving the Lord. He gave countless hours teaching, mentoring, witnessing and spreading the word of God and held numerous youth group leadership positions, Deacon of North Atlanta Bible Chapel, Elder at Fellowship Bible Church, Elder and Pastor of Benevolence and North Point Community Church. He selflessly served others throughout his life. He is survived by: Wife Mary Ann; four children and spouses: Connie Bryant and husband David, Cindy Miller and husband David, Robbie Cox and wife Rebecca, Christie Graber and husband Joe, eleven beloved grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Ben Cox and sisters, Evelyn and Linda.

A private family military service take place at Georgia National Cemetery and celebration of life service will be held Saturday, 11:30 am, March 11 at NorthPoint Community Church theatre 4350 North Point Parkway, Alpharetta, GA 30022. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Fulton Community Charities 11270 Elkins Rd, Roswell GA 300076.
