Cecilia Joan Levenstein, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16th surrounded by the love of a few family members.
Born on March 26, 1946 in Griffin, Georgia, to William Douglas and Jewell Mae Ragan with two sisters and three brothers. Joan lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the strong belief of making memories with the people you love. Throughout her 80 years she touched the lives of countless people with her kindness, strength, and the way she made people feel welcomed and seen. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her friends and family were some of her greatest joys.
Throughout her life she was employed with: Collier International, RCG, Auto-Town Insurance Agency, and she owned her own janitorial cleaning service. Joan also loved to travel, see new places, and eat at new restaurants. She will always be remembered for her warm heart, her caring spirit, and her lively personality who brought joy wherever she went. Whether she was spending time with family, sharing a meal or a glass of wine, offering words of wisdom and love, or simply enjoying the little things in life, she had a way of making memories with the people around her. Her love was felt in both the big gestures and the quiet, everyday moments.
Above all, Joan leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her loving daughter, Dana Mathes; her cherished grandchildren, Kevin (Heather) Roden, Kristyn (Ansley) Dunn; her beloved great-grandchildren, Rylea Roden, KJ Roden, Jackson Roden, and Baby Dunn; her siblings, Carolyn Richardson, Ronald (Kippi) Ragan, Eric Ragan, and Anisha (Dwayne) Barber; her sister-in-law, Barbara Ragan; along with many extended family members and friends who lives were made brighter by knowing and loving her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Levenstein; her parents, William Douglas and Jewell Mae Ragan; and her brother, Keith Ragan.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 29th from 5pm to 8pm, and a celebration of Joan’s life will be held on Friday, October 30th at 11:00am at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors & Crematory (12050 Crabapple Rd Roswell, GA 30075 ), and graveside service at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia (2000 Marietta Blvd NW Atlanta, Georgia 30318).
