Charles S. (Chuck) Beam of Alpharetta, Ga., died on June 26 from complications following a stroke. He was born in Hamlet, N.C., on August 17, 1956, to Joseph David Beam Jr. and Nancy Covington Beam. As a child in a textile family, he spent his early years in North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee, moving to Clarksville, Va., in first grade. He graduated from Bluestone High School and earned a B.S. at East Tennessee State University in electrical engineering.
Chuck had a distinguished career in sales of software, hardware, and consulting services within the dramatically growing information technology industry in the Southeast. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and playing golf with his sons and his friends. Sometimes referred to as "Goodtime Charlie," he will be remembered by his many friends for his fun-loving and upbeat personality.
Chuck will be remembered most for his love for his sons, Charles Jonathan Beam and Joseph Michael Beam of Duluth, Ga., who survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his stepmother, Judith Ann Beam of Wilmington, N.C.; and his brothers, David (Elizabeth) of Raleigh, N.C., and George (Betsy) of Forest, Va. He is also survived by his nieces, Ashleigh Beam Karol (Adam) of Forest, Va., and Sarah Beam Lukas (Albert) of Great Falls, Va.; and nephews, David Beam (Carolyn) of Pinehurst N.C., Matthew Beam (Rebecca) of Charlotte, N.C., and Adam Beam (Hannah) of Forest, Va.
