Obituary

Charles "Everett" Dodd, of Cumming, GA, passed away on September 12, 2024 at the age of 87. Everett was born July 3, 1937 to parents S. E. "Euel" and Eula Jean Dodd at the family home in then rural Alpharetta, GA. He graduated from Milton High School in 1955. During his senior year of high school, he met the love of his life, the former Anne Shuler. They married February 1, 1958 and were a devoted couple for the next 66 years. They lived and raised their children in the Alpharetta area prior to his and Anne's move to Cumming, GA in 1996.
Everett worked for the DeKalb County Health Department for 17 years prior to going to work for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier serving the Alpharetta area until his retirement in 1997. As an active member and representative of the Rural Mail Carriers Union he devoted a great deal of time representing his fellow workers. For a few years following retirement he filled some of his new found extra time working for Enterprise Rental Car as a customer service representative.
Everett was a lifelong member of Clear Springs Baptist Church and held several positions while serving in the church. At the time of his passing he was the longest tenured current member of the church.
Everett was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He and Anne loved going to spring training in Orlando and spent the entire month of March there, attending Braves games, each year for 17 years. After his health prevented them from going to Orlando he seldom missed watching a televised game. They also enjoyed traveling together and were able to visit 49 of the 50 states.
Everett was predeceased by his parents, Euel and Jean Dodd; sons Michael Scotty Dodd and infant Tony Allen Dodd. He is survived by his wife Anne Shuler Dodd; daughter Terri Dodd Murphy (Joe); Daughter-in-law Sharon Dodd; Granddaughters, Sarah Fisher (Zach), Paige Eustis (Marty), Christa Jones (Travis), Rene' Walter (Chris) and Amanda Murphy, as well as 9 great grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
