Christy Goar, age 54, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away Tuesday May 21, 2024
peacefully with family at her side after a fearsome courageous battle with cancer..
Christy was born in Landstuhl, Germany, the daughter of Colonel Larry Goar and
Dee-Sharon Goar.
She moved around the country as an "Air Force Brat" developing that outgoing
personality and a love of people and travel. She played soccer but her father
instilled in her a love of all sports. She was a loyal fan of FCS sports, but also FSU
football, Atlanta Braves, the Falcons and Atlanta United.
Christy graduated college with a degree in elementary education which was her God
ordained calling. She absolutely loved teaching at Fellowship Christian School over
the last 20 years. She had a beautiful way of connecting with children and their
parents. She had the gift of eliciting respect while showing complete tenderness
and love to "her kids". She was able teach Bible (and her other subjects) in such a
practical way instilling integrity, love, compassion and true character in generations
of students.
That Christy loved God was obvious in the way she lived her life. Christy had a
generous compassionate heart often giving sacrificially to family and friends, whom
if you know Christy, was everyone she met. She was salty, fun and filled with such
light that it radiated out of her eyes and infectious smile.
She loved her family and considered them her best friends. They traveled the
world together. Went on mission trips together. They loved playing cards, dominos
and working puzzles together. She was a dog whisperer and adored her long haired
dachshunds as well as many pets in the community. She cared for her ailing father
with great patience and tenderness. She was the rock and guiding presence to the
2 boys she helped raise; but also the soft hug and redeemer.
The celebration of life for Christy will take place at ten o' clock on Saturday June
1st, 2024 at the Fellowship Bible Church at 480 West Crossville Road Roswell,
