Dannis Irdell "Dan" Simmons, MSgt USAF (Ret), (84) of Roswell, Georgia died peacefully at Northside Hospital – Forsyth in Cumming, Georgia on May 26, 2025. Born on August 11, 1940, he was the son of the late Numan R. Simmons and Erma O. (Coleman) Simmons. Of greater importance to him than his Air Force career was his love for teaching the Word of the Lord. He was the pastor of Cardwell Community Church, Cardwell, Montana from 1972 to 1978, and of Fellowship Bible Church, Blythewood, South Carolina from 1980 to 1990. Throughout his life, and particularly his last 15 years, he led many different weekly Bible studies, encouraging and training people to know Jesus Christ more deeply. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church, Roswell, Georgia, where he taught the Trailblazers Sunday School.
He is survived by his sons James Dannis "Jim" Simmons (Susan) of Bulima, Tanzania, Robert Marion "Bob" Simmons (Melissa) of Blythewood, South Carolina, and his daughter Michelle Simmons "Chelle" Shuler (Bert) of Alpharetta, Georgia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily Jordan Shuler, Trey Shuler, Mickey Shuler, Morgan Shuler, Cam Shuler and Brooke Wooten (Austin); and his siblings Rebecca L. "Becky" Simmons, Jackson L. "Jack" Simmons (Debbie), Shirley A. Britt, Jerry W. Simmons, and Patricia D. "Pat" Lowder (Sonny). He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Margaret Emily (Therrien) "Peggi" Simmons, his parents, his brother Kenneth A. Simmons and his sister Betty R. Watts. A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Fellowship Bible Church 480 West Crossville Road, Roswell, Georgia, 30075 at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2025.
