David Prentice Hartman, age 78, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, he lived in Lawrenceville and Alpharetta, Georgia for a large portion of his life. He was a long time parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas, in Alpharetta, Georgia. He retired from NCR Corporation after 25 years. David was a gentle soul and a kind-hearted man. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1946, he was a beloved son of John and Ellen Grace Hartman. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Hartman, as well as his sister, Joan Voce. He attended John Carroll High School and Jacksonville State University and was a lifelong, die-hard Auburn University fan. David is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Mary W. Hartman; his daughter Deborah Lutterman and husband Jeff Lutterman and three grandchildren, Jack, Kate and Charlie; his son Christopher Hartman and wife Laura and step-grandson Nick.
His funeral mass will be on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, located at 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30004. Family will receive friends immediately prior to the service, as well as immediately following the mass in the parish hall. Live-stream information for the funeral mass will be added once available.
Interment will take place on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2pm (CST) at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama, located at 600 Martin Luther King Jr Drive.
