Obituary

David Floyd Kirk, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on May 19, 2025. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 5th, 1961. David was a 1979 graduate of The Marist School and later attended University of Tennessee-Martin, studying agricultural economy, and Valdosta State University, where he studied forestry. David found success and fulfillment within the hospitality industry, and eventually his work sent him to his long-time home of Savannah, Georgia, where he loved surf fishing and enjoying fried shrimp platters on Tybee Island. In 2012 David resettled in Roswell, Georgia. He was a loving and committed son, and generously devoted his time to his parents as their primary caregiver for thirteen years. David was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed cheering on the Atlanta Braves and tuning in to NASCAR races, Duke basketball, and golf. He also had a fondness for the mountains and appreciated any time spent outdoors. His kind spirit and dedication to his loved ones was apparent in all of his life's endeavors. David will be greatly missed by his family.

David was preceded in death by his father, William Daniel Kirk, Sr. of Roswell, Georgia, and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bill Hankins, of Greenville, North Carolina.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Caveness Kirk of Roswell, Georgia, and by his siblings, Patti Kirk of Roswell, Georgia, Kathy (Charlie) Swahn and Bill (Diane) Kirk of Johns Creek, Georgia, Erin Kirk of Watkinsville, Georgia, and niece, Kristin Hankins of Acworth, Georgia. He is also survived by nephew Brett Statome (Lori) of Marietta, Georgia and nieces Shannon (Paul) Bailey of Arlington, Virginia, Kendall Lanois (Chris) of Carrollton, Virginia, Megan Swahn of Washington, D.C., Emily Gordon (Adam) of Sugar Hill, Georgia, and Sara Kirk of Athens, Georgia. Additionally, he is survived by six great nieces, two great nephews, and one great-great niece. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Ximena Gunter for her compassionate care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Thursday, May 29, at 10am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Alpharetta, Georgia, with Reverend Jaime Rivera as celebrant. The family will receive visitors at the church from 9 to 10 am before Mass. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, Georgia.
