Obituary

David William Westbrook, lovingly known as "Daddy Dave" and "Big B," took his first breath in heaven and saw Jesus face-to-face on March 20, 2026, at the age of 77. He was surrounded by the love of his family at his home of 40 years in Roswell, Georgia.

David was born on March 8, 1949, in Graham, North Carolina. As a young man, he worked alongside his grandfather, Samuel William Westbrook, on the family's tobacco farm; an experience that helped shape his strong work ethic and quiet humility. He was a talented athlete, excelling in both basketball and baseball, and graduated from Eastern Alamance County High School in 1967. That same year, David began his studies at North Carolina State University ("NC State"), where he pursued a degree in Computer Engineering the same year that NC State established its Department of Computer Science. After graduating from NC State in 1971, he began a long and successful career with AT&T in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1975, David met the love of his life, Kathy, and they were married on November 9 of that year. David's earthly days were marked by a quiet contentment in considering others more important than himself, a joy in providing for his family, and a confidence in knowing Jesus Christ as his Savior. After full days at work, David generously committed to coaching boys' basketball and baseball through Roswell Area Parks and steadfastly supported his children in all their academic and athletic pursuits. He found great joy in being present for his family and in being a faithful husband, father, and grandfather.

David was preceded in death by his parents, King William Westbrook and Nina Garrison Westbrook, and by a grandchild whose first home was heaven.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathy Williams Westbrook; his son, Bradley William Westbrook, and daughter in law, Elizabeth Griffin Westbrook; his daughter, Amy Leigh Young, and son in law, Kevin Donald Young; his cherished grandchildren, Annalise Gold Westbrook, Hannah Grace Young, and Adele Katherine Westbrook, all of Roswell, Georgia; and his sister, Carolyn Solino (Richard) of Axton, Virginia.

A private burial will be held on the morning of March 26, 2026. Visitation with family and friends will take place on March 26, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.at Lebanon Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rise Up! for Christ.
