Deacon John S. Strachan, 77, of Roswell, GA died on February 10, 2023.
John grew up in Bridgeport, CT. He joined the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. Leaving the service, he pursued a career at Sikorsky Aircraft. Later he took a job at Premier Roofing. An unfortunate event caused his paralysis, but rehabilitation led him to a career at GE Capital as senior program analyst. His job at GE Capital brought about a move to Roswell, GA for the Strachan family and finding St. Thomas Aquinas Church. John's involvement in the church led to him becoming a deacon. He retired from GE Capital and remained active in the church for many years. During that time, he and his wife spent time traveling around the US. His favorite place to be was snowmobiling in Montana.
John is preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Strachan, and his brother, William Strachan. He is survived by his loving wife Joy Strachan; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Molly Strachan of Atlanta, GA; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Mitchell Jones of Gainesville, GA; his grandchildren, Jessica Lange, Kalen Clevenger, Shelby Strachan and Ryan Jones; his great grandchild; Anthony Clevenger; his brother-in law and sister-in law, Patrick and Jeanne Cocchiarella; his nieces, Carrie Allen and Tara Barreira; and his nephews, James Strachan, Robert Strachan and Patrick Cocchiarella.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta, GA. Visitation will be held prior to the mass on at 9:00am at the church. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA at 2:30pm
