Donald Francis Withers, 82, of Woodstock, GA, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025. Born in Johnstown, PA, in 1942, Don led a life defined by devotion, integrity, and kindness.
Don graduated from the University of South Florida in 1963, embarking on a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. Over the years, he built a reputation for excellence, ultimately becoming a partner at Coopers & Lybrand in 1975.
In 1972, Don married Peggy Wainwright, beginning a 52-year journey of unwavering love and partnership. Together, they raised two sons, Randy (49) and Casey (46), and maintained a wonderful relationship with Don's three daughters from his first marriage, Lory Koontz (58), Chantal Spencer (60), and Lisa Gannaway (54). Don's family grew to include sons-in-law Jeff Spencer and Edward Gannaway, and a daughter-in-law, Courtney Withers, all of whom he welcomed with open arms and love.Don was also the beloved grandfather of eight grandchildren—Kyle, A.J., Zack, Grace, Haley, Hudson, Camden, and Palmer—and one great-grandchild, Rowan, who will carry forward his legacy of warmth and wisdom.
Outside of his career, Don found joy in collecting model trains and dedicating his time to his church community. He also enjoyed many years of golf with "The Fabulous Golf Boys" (a name the group proudly gave themselves) in Jacksonville, Florida. Don was admired for his affable nature, quick wit, and steady demeanor. Thoughtful and steadfast, he made everyone feel valued and respected.
Don's greatest legacy is the profound impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. As a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he embodied love, humor, and kindness in every relationship he cultivated.
A celebration of Don's life will be held on February 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Northside Chapel and Funeral Home in Roswell, GA. His family invites all who knew and loved him to join in honoring a life so beautifully lived and to attend a reception following the celebration at Casey and Courtney's home,13010 Magnolia Crescent Drive, Roswell, Ga.
