Dorothy "Jeanine" (Whiddon) Duncan entered her eternal life on February 3, 2024, at the age of 90 years. A blue-eyed baby, born in Cairo, Georgia on August 7, 1933, Jeanine was the youngest of four children born to Offie & Annie Whiddon. Annie died of pneumonia when Jeanine was just 6 years old. It was a loss she felt throughout her life. Her father never remarried.
Jeanine adored her grandparents, James Calvin & Margaret Maddox Whiddon. She relayed many memories of happy times at their home. Being musically gifted, as a young girl she played piano for several churches in her area.
Jeanine was very social, enjoying many life-long friendships. She was a Christian, and for many years, shared her lovely voice as an active member of Mableton First Baptist Church choir.
Jeanine was also an accomplished hairdresser & businesswoman. For many years, she operated her own fully equipped beauty shop from her home. Her appointment book was always full.
Jeanine & Willard were united in marriage July 17, 1953, a marriage lasting for over 60 years. Jeanine formed a special bond with her mother-in-law, Tessie, whom she loved very much. After a few years of marriage, the couple moved to metro Atlanta, eventually settling in Powder Springs & then the Austell area. Jeanine was so proud of her three sons, all of which were successful professionals: Dennis became a Lawyer, Dale became a Doctor, & Dana became a Senior Program Analyst. Jeanine was a loving Wife, Mother & Grandmother. She was an excellent cook, cultivated lovely gardens at the family home on Wade Road, and was a beauty with great personal style regarding hair & clothing. Trips to Lake Burton, Panama City Beach, and south Georgia for family visits & reunions, were much anticipated by all. She was much loved by family and friends.
Jeanine is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Willard Duncan; mother, Annie Paul Johnson Whiddon; father, Offie Lee Whiddon; sister, Kathleen Whiddon Johnson; brothers: Bernard Whiddon & Carroll Whiddon.
Jeanine is survived by her sons: Dennis Lee Duncan of Macon (children: Dennis L. Duncan, Jr., Hope Duncan), Dale Ray Duncan (Dana) of Woodstock (children: Laura Duncan, Audra Duncan),Dana Van Duncan (Terri) of Acworth (children: Sarah Duncan, Isaac Duncan). Jeanine shared a special bond with nieces, Cathie Duncan Blackburn & Linda Johnson Massey, both of whom were with Jeanine during her last days and hours.
Services, will be officiated by Rev. John and Rev. Judy Wolfe, will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Northside Chapel Funeral Home, 12050 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, Georgia. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM with Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. Private family internment: Mount Harmony Memorial Gardens, Mableton, Georgia.
