Douglas Philip Eyrich, age 77, of Marietta, GA, passed away on July 26th, 2025 at Wellstar Community Hospice at Kennesaw Mountain
Doug was born on February 24th, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY to Philip and Ruth Eyrich. He grew up in Uniondale, NY and graduated from Uniondale High School in 1966.
He worked in IT computer networking and teaching at IBM in NYC for 30 years. In 1984, Doug married Laurie Marie Plesch. They built a life together in Massapequa, NY filled with friends, life on the water and adventures with family. In 1992, they were relocated to Marietta, GA. where Doug then retired from IBM and continued working in computer networking at Genuine Parts Company.
Doug was a devoted husband, proud and loving father and grandfather, dear brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed working with his model trains, and his many hands- on projects: home renovations, construction sets, and volunteering at Habitat for Humanity. Doug was also an avid gardener. He will be remembered for his kindness, determination and quick-wit.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Philip Eyrich. Doug is survived by beloved wife of 41 years, Laurie; daughters Crystal Eyrich of Canton, GA, Christine (Nina) Kuhn of Woodstock, GA, Tiffany Cole of Alpharetta, GA, and Elizabeth McGinnis of Alpharetta, GA; his six grandchildren Aubrey (8), Jaxsen (8), Amelia (7), Eleanor (5), Abigail (2) and Finley (4 months); brothers Dennis Eyrich of Vero Beach, FL, Robert Eyrich of Delray Beach, FL, and sisters Rondi Petersen of Beaumont, TX, and Phyllis Johnson of Southold, NY.
