Marion DUANE Thacker age 86 years old of Woodstock passed away on March 23, 2026.

Duane Thacker was born December 14, 1939 in Independence, Missouri. He was a 1957 graduate of William Chrisman High School. Following high school, he earned his BS in Civil Engineering from Finlay Engineering College. Shortly after college, Duane enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Nebraska and Missouri National Guard until he was honorably discharged in 1968. Duane proudly worked for Marley Cooling Tower Company for an impressive 36 years, working his way up to General Manager of Southeast Operations before he retired in 2002.

Duane was a member of First Baptist Church of Roswell where he was a deacon. Being blessed with the spiritual gift of service, Duane enjoyed serving the community through the church's involvement in Appalachian Outreach, Katrina relief, United Service Organization for troops returning or leaving for deployment, and the Drake House. He was always witnessing to others through his actions, his talents and his love.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dixie Davenport Thacker; his children, Nancy Palmer (Michael), Michael Thacker, and Susan Medellin (Rich); his five beloved grandchildren, Lauren Palmer Freitag (Joshua), Lillie Palmer Bamberg (Terrence), Molly Thacker, Kaleigh Medellin, and Griffin Thacker; his three precious great-grandchildren, Quinn Freitag, Ezra Freitag, and Hendrix Bamberg; and his siblings, Vickie Higgins, Ray Thacker, and Dana Kolb.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Northside Chapel Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church of Roswell. In Lieu of Flowers, the family prefers that friends make donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation in Duane's memory
