Grandma O’Keefe taught us all how to live life to its fullest, and we will miss her feistiness and young spirit.

Edith O’Keefe passed peacefully in her sleep on September 19, 2026, in Roswell, GA after 98 glorious years. She was born on February 10, 1928 in East Islip, NY to Emily and William Klinke, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Johnson; daughter in law, Kathy O’Keefe; grandchildren: Justin O’Keefe (Stacey), Tucker O’Keefe, Emily Percival (Jimmy), Brendan Johnson (Casey), Bridget Johnson, and Brian Johnson; great grandchildren: Ava, Paige, Sydney, Hayley, James, Hannah, Jeffrey, George, Lydia, and Maggie; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gus; her son, Jeffrey; and brother, William Klinke, Jr.. Edie was full of life and energy, being blessed with good health for most of her 98 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grands. When she wasn’t watching or talking sports with them, she was always up for a good game of poker, bingo or a challenge at scratch off lottery tickets!

Edie grew up in Central Islip, NY where she met the love of her life, Gus at the age of 16. She graduated in 1945 from Central Islip High School and immediately began working as a Secretary for the Central Islip School District, where she retired as Secretary to the Superintendent in 1987 after 42 years of service. Edith and Gus married in 1952 and called Central Islip their home for 62 years. Edith was a long-time member of the Central Islip Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and volunteer for the Salvation Army.

Edith and Gus retired to St. Augustine in 1990 and enjoyed traveling as well as living close to their family. Edith was an active member of the St. Augustine South Improvement Association, where she was a volunteer for their Bingo for 20 years.

Grandma O’Keefe (whom she was known to by many) taught us all how to live life to its fullest, and we will miss her feistiness and young spirit, as well as the joy and love she brought to others.
