Ellon Wallace Jones, 97, of Cumming formerly of Alpharetta passed away July 24, 2024 following a brief illness.
Ellon was a lifelong resident of Alpharetta and prided herself in being called a native Alpharetta Resident. She loved to travel, she made sure she always looked her best, and was always the life of any party. Ellon was a faithful member of Alpharetta Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, organized trips with her senior friends, and was always available in any capacity needed. Ellon was also an active member of the Alpharetta Historical Society and could be found many Saturdays working at the Mansell House hosting weddings and celebrations of many kinds. She also volunteered for numerous other civic duties including polling attendant for elections. Ellon also never hesitated to chaperone school trips for her granddaughter and was known to all the students as "Grandmother Ellon". She was also proud to tell everyone that her grandsons proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ellon was loved by everyone that met her.
Ellon is preceded in death by her mother and father Hoke and Allene Wallace, son Tony Jones, sister Hazel Reese. She is survived by daughter in law Barbara Jones of Ballground, grandchildren Cheri (Ken) Chance of Cumming Ga, Zachary (Brandy) Jones of Stafford, Va, Alexander (Celina) Jones, Ballground Ga, Henry (Rocki) Jones, Kings Bay, Ga. greatgrandchildren Naomi Chance, Ethan (Claire) Chance, Sarah Jones, Samuel Jones, Nathaniel Jones, Harrison Jones, niece Linda (Buddy) Bell. Numerous other relatives also survive.
A celebration of life for Ellon will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alpharetta Methodist Church or the Alpharetta Historical Society.
