Eugene "Gene" Wheeler Hollifield, age 83, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on July 15, 2026, in the hospital following a brief illness of MDS.
Gene enjoyed the great outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He also enjoyed going to the gym, watching the Braves, playing Poker, telling stories, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved animals, reading, and the beach.
Gene graduated from Roswell High School in 1961 and was a member of the Roswell Jaycees, BassMasters, and Ducks Unlimited.
Gene worked at a bank followed by Moore-Handley Lumber Company and Jasper Lumber Company, before retiring.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents and by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Abercrombie Hollifield.
Gene is survived by his two daughters, Shelly Hollifield Bringardener (Charlie) of Cumming, Georgia, and Robyn Hollifield Walters (Marty) of Nashville, Tennesse; his brother, Jerry Hollifield and family; his sister-in-law, Beverly Sullivan and family; and his grandchildren, Abigail "Abby" Morris (Cameron), Andrew Walters, Myles Bringardner, and Grant Bringardner; and many other special family members and friends.
A casual reception will be held on Saturday, August 8, at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Churchill Crossing Clubhouse, 5025 Churchill Ridge Drive, Cumming, Georgia 30028. During the reception, family and friends are encouraged to share stories and memories while enjoying some of Dad's favorite music and photos. We will be honoring his life as a wonderful father, grandfather ("Papa"), uncle, brother, and friend.
