Obituary

Frances Benoit of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 24, 2025, at the age of 95.

Born Frances Elizabeth Guild on May 17, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the eldest of Everett and Katherine Guild's three daughters. She lived most of her childhood in Mount Clemens, Michigan, and after graduating from Mount Clemens High School, she attended Michigan State University, where she pledged the Kappa Delta Sorority.

While in high school, Frances met and fell in love with Howard Benoit. They were married in 1950 and eventually settled in East China Township, Michigan, to raise their six children. Devoted to her family, Frances always supported each child's interests and activities, seeking out experiences that would enrich their lives, instilling in them the importance of education, while encouraging them to pursue their own chosen path. Frances was involved in her community as a member of the PTA, served on the school board, and enjoyed her work with the Marine City Civic Women's Club. She was an active member of Saint Martin's Evangelical Lutheran Church and served as their administrative assistant for eighteen years. An avid gardener, Frances cultivated beautiful flower gardens, bountiful vegetable gardens, and a variety of indoor plants. Another of her interests was genealogy. Working with family members, she helped document her parent's life stories while researching her family history.

A few years after Howard retired, he and Frances moved to South Florida to spend some long-awaited time with each other. They had shared forty-one wonderful years of marriage when Howard passed away in 1992.

Frances spent the final years of her life in Alpharetta, Georgia. When she wasn't traveling around the country to visit family and friends or vacationing on cruises or trips abroad, she remained active with the YMCA, the Alpharetta Adult Center, the Alpharetta Garden Club, and two Kappa Delta alumni groups. Recognizing her 75 years of participation in the sorority, Frances' name was recently inscribed in the Kappa Delta Diamond Circle. Throughout her life, Frances nurtured many lasting friendships and family bonds. She touched many lives, and she will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. We will miss her beautiful smile and her kind, generous spirit.

Frances is survived by her two sisters: Dona Keller and Patricia Reecher; her six children: David (Melinda - deceased), Janet (Louis) Mogyoros, Thomas (Robin) Benoit, Donald (Mary) Benoit, Timothy Benoit, and Nancy (Karl) Hansen; her twelve grandchildren: Kelsey (Daniel) Kibodeaux, Jessie (Lorenzo) Hayes, Kevin Mogyoros, Jeffrey Mogyoros, Alexandra Benoit, Ryan (Jennifer) Benoit, Jamie Benoit, Peter (Emily) Benoit, Scott Benoit, Kyle Hansen, Kent Hansen, and Kurt (Danielle) Hansen; her seven great grandchildren; and an extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to remember Frances with a gift, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
