Obituary

He was brought into this world on June 9, 1956, to Jack and Betty—a day that marked the beginning of a life larger than most. Handsome doesn't quite capture him; many who knew him fondly referred to him as a "Greek God." He carried that charm with effortless confidence and humility, making everyone feel welcome.

He had a deep love for sports, especially football and softball, and proudly bled orange as a graduate of the University of Tennessee.

A true master of both freshwater and saltwater fishing, he found peace and joy on the water. As a licensed boat captain, some of his happiest days were spent in the Bahamas—especially West End, Green Turtle Cay, and Hope Town—places he loved deeply and returned to whenever he could.

He was loyal to the things he loved: his Harley-Davidson and his favorite ride, a Honda Goldwing; his role as the "sprinter" among long-distance cyclists; and his reputation as the ultimate grill master, known for preparing a perfect filet mignon while enjoying a vodka grapefruit or his favorite Meiomi Pinot Noir. He swung a golf club like a baseball bat and could knock a golf ball to the Netherlands.

He never met a stranger. His personality was magnetic, and his ability to connect with people was extraordinary—he truly could "sell the pants off a double amputee." He spent many years in motorhome sales and lived and breathed his work at Liberty Coach, where his passion and dedication were undeniable.

Above all else, he was a father, a brother, a son, and a friend—but most importantly, a husband, deeply loved and forever cherished by his wife, Amy. He was also a grandfather to Robert and Royce. He is their new guardian angel!

He was proudly known as the "Weenie King" to The Patterson Boys—Hudson Jack Patterson, Henry Grady Patterson, and Higgins Gene Patterson—who brought him endless joy and laughter. These boys brought him great comfort during his three years in Memory Care, where he continued to care for them in his own special way—a testament to the love he carried in his heart.

His life was one of adventure, humor, and love. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life presence, his generous spirit, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

He is cherished by and leaves a legacy of love to:
his wife, Amy Hood Patterson;
his daughter, Kathryn Patterson Urban (Robert Urban), and their children, Robert and Royce;
his sisters, Lisa Patterson Garcia (Oscar Garcia) and their daughter, Isis, and Suzi Patterson Montgomery (Bob Montgomery) and her son, Nicholas Jackson Breeden;
his brother, Jeff Patterson (Sarah Hasty Williams)
and his mother-in-law, Billie Jane Hood.

He was preceded in death by:
