With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of George Lee Walters, 94, of Roswell, GA., on August 9th. George was a charismatic individual with a passion for sharing stories of his adventures at Rich's Department Store in Atlanta, GA; his successes at General Electric; his unwavering loyalty towards his UGA Bulldogs; and his sweetheart, "Sugah" (wife, Ann). He was dedicated to helping others: volunteering as an EMT in Monroe, CT.; a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, GA.; an elder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Statesboro, GA. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Beasley Walters; his parents, Lillian Kemp Armstrong; his stepfather, Jesse Armstrong; his father, Lee Brascus Walters; his sister, Billie Walters Etling.
He is survived by his daughter, Lenette (Judy Hamrick); his cousin, Nan Solomon; cherished nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family extends special appreciation to: Shirley Albright Sheppard, George's long time care provider in Statesboro for her limitless support; the care team at The Georgian Lakeside for providing a loving and compassionate home; the private care team of Kalala Cares: Jane, Nancy, Mercy, Douglas, and Ms. Kalala all made George's life better every day with their love and support; Michelle and Meredith from Emory IMC; and the Agape Hospice Services team.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Northside Chapel in Roswell from 6 PM to 8 PM. The graveside service at Memory Hill Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 11 AM.
