Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and brother, George Michael Young, who passed away on August 31 2024, he was 78 years old. Mike was preceded in death by his father, George Young and his mother Kathleen Maxey Young.
Mike, was born on March 8th 1946. He grew up in Tampa FL, where he attended H. B. Plant High School and was a member of Jr ROTC Rifle Team and their Senior year the team won the National Championship in Small Bore Rifle at Camp Perry Ohio, something he was very proud of. After Junior College he joined his Dad working at Test and Balance Corporation where he began as technician, then into sales and management and later as its CEO. Mike obtained his Test and Balance Engineers certification from the Associated Air Balance Council (AABC). AABC is a leading organization in setting standards and providing training and certification for the Test and Balance Industry. Mike would eventually serve a term as President of AABC!
Mike, in 1996 was the driving force in the formation of International Commissioning Engineers (ICE) and a leading voice in the formation of the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG) an Association dedicated to providing standards and certification for the Building Commissioning industry. Through his career he was known for his leadership and professionalism, and he was respected by his employees, colleagues, and clients alike.
Mike always made time for his family and friends. He was a loving and caring Father, Husband and Brother! He had a great sense of humor and always manage to weave a story or two in to any conversation.
Mike is survived by his wife, Dale, and his son, David; his brothers, Steve and Pat (wife, Kay); and nephews, Harrison and Robert Young. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on September 14th, 2024 at 1:00pm at Northside Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, in memory of Mike Young.
