Gwendolyn "Gwen" Thompson Tracey, age 93, of Canton, GA, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. She was born August 10, 1930, in West Palm Beach, FL.
Gwen and her husband, Bud, met in Jacksonville, FL, where they raised their family and then moved to South Florida and eventually to Alpharetta, GA in 1970. After raising her family, Gwen ventured back to work as a Dental Assistant which she enjoyed. When she retired, she and her husband enjoyed many road trips across the US. Gwen, who was affectionately known as "Gran" or "Granny" to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoyed spending time with them, playing board games and cards, and celebrating the Holidays together.
She is survived by her son, Steve and Carol Tracey, East Palatka, FL; daughter, Pat Denman, Canton, GA; daughter-in-law, Jane Tracey, McDonough, GA; grandchildren Tabbetha Tracey, Lesley Smith, Lindsey Van Schooten, Roxanne Broadhead; great-grandchildren Bryahna, Abdullah, Jayda and Yousef Bushamie; Alex and Austin Baker, Kinley Smith, Cameron Hale, Nolan and Everett Van Schooten, Ansleigh and Levi Gailey, and her very dear and life-long friends Carrol and Carol Sue Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents John J. and Ima Thompson, her loving husband of 59 years, Atlee (Bud) Tracey; daughter, Debra Tracey; son, Michael Tracey; grandson, Steven Tracey, Jr.; son-in-law, Don Denman; brothers, Jack Thompson, Max Thompson; sisters, Jerry Thompson and Anoise Wainright.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors, Roswell, GA. Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM with the service following at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Roswell, GA. The family will accept flowers or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in Gwen's name.
