Mrs. Helen Hayes, age 91, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Helen was the daughter of the late Clarence and Naomi Collett. Helen was born in Woodstock, Georgia and was a graduate of Milton High School in Alpharetta, Georgia. She and her husband Marvin later relocated to Greenville, SC where she lived until relocating back to Atlanta in 1998. Helen moved to Atlanta as a young adult, where she married the love of her life, Robert Marvin Hayes, Jr. The marriage was blessed with five children, Beth, Gary, Janet, Nancy, and Pat. Helen and Marvin loved each other and enjoyed sharing precious moments and adventures with their family. An avid reader, seamstress and gardener, Helen also loved to play bridge with Marvin and friends. As a widow, she later took up Duplicate Bridge. Baking was a favorite past time for Helen. She was known through her many church friends and family as the baker of many different kinds of deserts for all occasions. Her brownies and pound cakes were family favorites. Helen enjoyed the precious gift of many lifetime friends joining them in fun times as long as she was able. She especially enjoyed her annual trip to Lake Hartwell with her church friends from Clarkston. Along with her parents, Helen is proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Marvin Hayes, Jr., eight siblings and sons-in-law Bill Catharine and Mel Brooks. She is survived by her five loving children: daughters, Beth Hayes Catharine, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; Janet Hayes Olesen (Ray), of Cumming, Georgia; Nancy Hayes Brooks, of Atlanta, Georgia; sons, Robert Gary Hayes (Lynn), of Winder, Georgia; and Patrick Marvin Hayes (Kim), of Dahlonega, Georgia; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. A private family visitation and funeral service will be held for the Hayes/Collett families to honor the life of Helen. Visitation will take place at twelve o' clock in the afternoon on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the Northside Chapel at 12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, Georgia. The funeral service will be held at one o' clock in the afternoon following the visitation. Interment to follow the conclusion of the service at Green Lawn Cemetery.
