Herman Walter Rock, better known as "Rock, "passed away on January 4, 2026. He was born on January 29, 1940, and grew up in Deford, MI. He graduated from Cass City High School in 1958 and received his bachelor's degree from Asbury University in 1962. In 1967 he moved to Georgia to study theology at Emory University. In 1990 he earned an associate degree in Mortuary Science from Gupton Jones College. He was an ordained Methodist pastor and a member of Morrow Masonic Lodge. He worked as a funeral director, schoolteacher, police officer, deputy sheriff, and ramp operator for Eastern airlines. He was preceded in death by his son Todd Rock, along with his parents, Henry and Ione (Reynolds) Rock. He leaves to mourn his husband, Stephen J Cordone; two sons, Luke Rock (Karen) of McDonough, GA and Marcus Rock (Josie), of Gainesville, GA; five grandchildren, Rachel, Maddie, Campbell, Hallie, and William Asher; a brother Henry Rock (Janet) of Mayville, MI and brother-in-law Victor Cordone of Inman, SC. He is also mourned by nieces, nephews and cousins, including two special cousins, Tim Reynolds and Emanuel Poulard of Nice, France, and his beloved dog, Martha.
Visitation will be Friday, January 9, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Northside Chapel in Roswell. On Saturday, January 10 at 3:00 pm, a celebration of life service will be held at Ebenezer Church, formerly Ebenezer UMC, in Roswell.
Rock passed into eternity with the assurance of Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
