Hugh Donald Wages was born in Birmingham, AL, on June 14, 1937, and passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Engineering and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Georgia State. He was an ardent Crimson Tide fan and a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. Nicknamed "Si" after his father's own nickname, he played sports and started playing the guitar in his youth. He was a gifted musician but chose a career in HVAC, at George Holden and Assoc., and Mingeldorff's, later becoming president of the company. He was a long-standing elder at Chalcedon Presbyterian Church and passionately prayed and studied the Bible. He now rests in peace with his Lord and Savior.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carole; and a granddaughter, Caroline Hartrampf. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and son, Sharon and Donald; two granddaughters, Leigh Anne (J. F. Gagné), Claire (Thomas Brunson); and a grandson, John Hartrampf III. He is also survived by his great-grandson, Baker Brunson; great-granddaughter, Blake Brunson; as well as his companion, Patricia Plath.
