Irma Hatcher Carr ("Nana"), age 98, of Cumming, GA, passed away on January 5, 2024. Irma was born in Doerun, GA. on December 12, 1925, to Clifford and Agnes Faircloth Hatcher. Irma was preceded in death by her parents, son, John Marcus Carr, brother, Clifford Edward Hatcher, Jr., brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Teresa Hatcher, and brother-in-law, William Adkins.
Irma is survived by her husband, Olice Marcus Carr, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Donna Sorrow Carr; daughter, Marsha Carr Lanier; grandchildren, Lindsay Emory (Phillip), Jordan Carr (Maureen), Beth Canada (Jonathan) and Cindy Collin (Mathew); 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Hatcher (Krysta Harden) and Marc Hatcher (Joy); her sister, Grace Adkins and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Irma was a member of Alpharetta First Baptist Church and was a longtime resident of Forsyth County. Irma and her husband of 57 years shared their home in Cumming, GA for many years before recently moving to assisted living in Milton, GA. Irma passed peacefully with her husband and family by her side.
For those that knew Irma, she was kind, gentle and faithful to her Lord. She loved teaching Sunday School at her church and was an inspiration to all that knew her.
She studied Elementary Education and Teaching at GSCW, now GC&SU, Milledgeville, and studied language and writing techniques at Mercer University in the 1970's. She retired as a Program Manager from Internal Revenue Service after 30 years of service.
A visitation will be held for friends and family at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell, GA, on Saturday, January 13, 2024, between 10:00 a.m. and noon, followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
