James David Benkert of Roswell, GA, age 7, passed peacefully on the morning of October 4, 2026 following a courageous 11-month battle against a rare brain tumor. As in life, James was surrounded by family, love, and laughter.

James was a proud second grade student at Mountain Park Elementary in Roswell and member of the Roswell Santos Jr. Soccer Academy. His infectious laughter, famous dance skills, kind spirit, and joy for life filled every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all he met. James is survived by his parents, Matthew and Emma Benkert, older brother Will Benkert, dog Harry, fish Cheese Dip, and a loving group of cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held on October 9th, 2026 at 3:00pm at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church in Roswell, GA followed by a Celebration of Life at the family home. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to The James David Benkert Foundation, which will seek to bring hope and financial assistance to other children battling the same disease.
