Obituary

Mr. James Kenneth Bunch (Jim), age 83, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023. Jim was born on July 20, 1939 in Talking Rock, Georgia, the son of the late Shelah and Lenora Bunch.

After attending the University of North Georgia at Dahlonega and serving in the Army National Guard, Jim moved to Atlanta as a young adult where he married the first love of his life, Joan Pruett of Franklin, North Carolina. The marriage was blessed with three children, Jimmy, Jason, and Joanie. Jim and Joan shared their love of the outdoors with their children, taking them around the county on many camping, fishing, and hiking trips.

As Jim liked to say, "he struck gold twice" when he met the second love of his life, Barbara Hammond of Watkinsville, Georgia. Jim and Barbara shared their love of spending time with family, food, pets, and travel, often going on trips with their friends and church groups visiting National Parks and even far flung locations such as the British Isles, Germany, Italy, and New Zealand.

An avid fisherman, lover of nature, and all things western, Jim collected many pieces of art and sculptures relfecting those interests. Jim was also an avid guitarist and singer with a beautiful baritone voice, and loved breaking out his guitar and playing classic country and gospel tunes for anyone that would listen.

In his professional life, Jim worked for ADT Security Systems for 37 years, living and working in many cities throughout the Southeast inlcuding Atlanta GA, Savannah GA, Charlotte NC, and Columbia SC, until his retirement in 2003.

In addition to his personal and professional interests, Jim was also actively involved in the Gideons for many years and the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years.

Jim is survived by his three loving children: son Acey (Jimmy) Bunch and his wife Tonya of Sugar Hill, Georgia; son Jason Bunch and his wife Lisa of St. Louis, Missouri; and daughter Joanie Baker of Savannah, Georgia. He is also survived by his devoted granchildren Ashleigh Bunch, Lindsay Bunch, Sydney Bunch, Jeremiah Bunch, Jackson Bunch, Brandon Baker, Jamison Marvel, and McKenna Baker.

The visitation for Jim will take place at twelve o' clock in the afternoon on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Northside Chapel at 12050 Crabapple Rd. Roswell, Georgia. The funeral service to honor the life of Jim will be at two o' clock in the afternoon following the visitation.
