Jancy Thorne Reavis, of Roswell, GA died peacefully surrounded by her loving husband, daughter, son and brother on January 28, 2024. She was 55 years old. Jancy is survived by her husband Philip Graham Reavis, daughter Katherine Dale Reavis, son Duncan Philip Reavis, brother Ernest Middleton Thorne III (wife Diana, niece Sallee) all of Roswell, GA: father Ernest Middleton Thorne, Jr. of Millen GA and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her mother Jancy Dale Stephens Thorne.
Jancy was born on August 23, 1968 in Millen, GA. She graduated from Edmund Burke Academy, the University of Georgia and received her Masters in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. She met her true love Phil in Savannah, GA, moved to Atlanta, GA and were married May 21, 1994. Her true passion professionally was teaching children for the past eighteen years. She was a preschool teacher at Northbrook United Methodist Preschool for a number of years before moving to Woodland Elementary School and ultimately Roswell North Elementary School the past nine years teaching her "itty bittys" in kindergarten and first grade.
Never one to let the grass grow under her feet, Jancy was the definition of a Social Southern Girl, always wanting to be with friends and family. She loved traveling to warm and sunny destinations, Fripp Island with her college besties, Hilton Head for family fun at Camp Narragansett, Friday Afternoon Social Hours with her Roswell friends, cheering on the Roswell Hornets during Katie's high school days and the Blessed Trinity Titans during Duncan's high school days, and Athens on gameday cheering on her Dawgs.
Her greatest passion was her family. She started each school day with Katie and Duncan when they were young teaching them the manner of the day, encouraged them to find their faith, and was always looking for ways to help them find their passions as they grew older. Anytime she saw them in person or talked with them on the phone made her smile. Jancy was married to Phil for over 29 years and they packed in a lifetime of love, fun and adventure during that time. Their marriage was defined by unconditional love for each other through the obstacles they faced or the joys they experienced.
