Jane Sewell Hansard, of Cumming, GA, passed away at the age of 81 on March 16, 2025.
Jane was born in Atlanta, GA on June 10, 1943. She graduated from Southwest High School
in Atlanta, GA in 1961. Jane worked for the Georgia Department of Labor where she met her
husband, Lamar. She then became a wonderful wife and mother and raised her own four
children, as well as helping raise many other children that she cared for in her home. She
enjoyed sewing, reading, baking and was well known within the family for her delicious
pound cake that her grandchildren always requested. She always had a beautiful smile on
her face and a kind hello for everyone. While living in assisted living the last several years,
she made many new wonderful friends and was loved by everyone, including her beloved
cat, Abby. Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Hansard; her parents, Sayar
Calhoun and Letty Frances Sewell; and her brother, John Sewell. She is survived by her
children, Nancy (Todd) Hegi; Jeff Hansard; Amy (Tom) Hunsucker; Kellie (Mike) Spears; her
grandchildren, Robert and William Hegi; Brady Hansard; Makena, Jackson, Gehrig and
Maddux Abernathy; and Brooke and Darby Spears. She is also lovingly remembered by her
son-in-law, Marty Abernathy and other in-laws. The family will receive friends at Northside
Chapel in Roswell, GA on Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 3pm to 5pm. A graveside service officiated by Rev. Bud Sutton will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens in Cumming, GA at 2pm.
