Mrs. Jan Mullennix Holcombe, age 72, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, March 14th, 2023. She was born on October 20th, 1950, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Arthur Howard Mullennix and Betty Allen Mullennix.
Jan met the love of her life, Bill Holcombe, while visiting her aunt in Columbus, Georgia, in 1966. They were married in 1969 and were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Chris, and Lindsey. They celebrated 53 years of marriage, a testament to their love and commitment to each other.
Jan was a woman who loved life and had a passion for many things. She loved to read, travel, and sew. She and Bill traveled the world together, visiting Italy, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Hungary, The Czech Republic, and Hawaii. They particularly loved the Gulf Coast of Florida, where they spent many summers. Jan was also a devoted member of her book club, which she had been a part of for over 20 years.
Jan was an active member of Northbrook UMC in Roswell, Georgia. She served in many roles, including several terms as chair of the SPRC committee. She was also one of the original Pre-School Directors at Northbrook. Later in her career, she served as the Pre-School Director at Mt. Pisgah UMC, John's Creek, Georgia, and Atlanta First Presbyterian Church. She finished her career as a Kindergarten teacher at Kings Ridge Christian School in Alpharetta, Georgia.
Jan is survived by her mother, Betty Allen Mullennix, sister Jill Mullennix Johnson (Marc), husband Bill Holcombe, children Jennifer Holcombe Gilliland (Eric) of Columbia, S.C, Christopher William Holcombe ( Stacy) of Canton, Georgia, Lindsey Holcombe Nieves (Omar) of Alpharetta, Georgia, and four Granddaughters (Piper Leigh Gilliland, Finley Brooke Holcombe, Harper Leighton Holcombe, and Hadley Elizabeth Holcombe).
The memorial service for Jan will be held on Saturday, March 18th, at Northbrook UMC, Roswell Georgia, at 3 PM. A reception will follow in John Simmons Hall. Jan will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Casual attire is fine!
