Janice Claire McClean, age 65, died on May 21, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family after a long and courageous journey with cancer.

Janice was born on April 16, 1961, in Bristol, England, to Frederick and Jean Tapp, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband and favorite person, Paul McClean. They were married on April 16, 1983 — her own birthday — and spent 43 years building a life full of laughter, chaos, creativity, resilience, and love.

She leaves behind her seven children: Jessica McClean, Kate (Andrew) Owens, Hattie (Chris) Farrell, Mimi McClean, Freddie McClean, Lola McClean, and Izzy McClean, along with three adored grandchildren: Ozzie, Max, and Evie. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Tapp, extended family members, and a huge collection of lifelong friends.

Janice earned a BA in French and Marketing from Lancaster University and worked as a teacher, including at High Meadows. But if you asked her what mattered most, she would tell you without hesitation: being a momma. She devoted more than 40 years to raising seven children and, for a time, caring for foster children too.

She was endlessly creative and could make just about anything with her hands. She loved crafts of every kind, especially needle arts and drawing. She was funny, honest, fiercely loyal, wildly supportive, and never afraid to stand up for people who needed someone in their corner.
Janice once said she hoped people would remember her as kind and thoughtful of others. Anyone who knew her would tell you that was exactly who she was. She also had a mischievous sense of humor and a strange love of watching videos of people falling down.

Cancer may have been part of her story, but it never got the final word on who she was. Through every setback, Janice remained stubbornly hopeful, funny, brave, and completely herself.

Janice found spiritual community and friendship at Northbrook United Methodist Church in Roswell and The Nett Church in Gwinnett County.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, 2:00pm at Northbrook United Methodist Church 11225 Crabapple Rd, Roswell, GA followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
Per Janice's request: Please wear bright colors, rainbows, joyful patterns — anything that looks more like Janice and less like a gloomy funeral.
